He completed his Cardiology Fellowship at Stellenbosch University, South Africa (2012–2016), followed by advanced training in Heart Failure Management at Zurich Heart House, London (2023–2024).

Biography
Dr. Kieran Mwasha Mwazo earned his MBChB (1994–2000) and MMed in Internal Medicine (2004–2008) from the University of Nairobi. He completed his Cardiology Fellowship at Stellenbosch University, South Africa (2012–2016), followed by advanced training in Heart Failure Management at Zurich Heart House, London (2023–2024). He is currently pursuing a PhD in Cardiovascular Sciences at Karolinska Institute, Sweden (2025–present), focusing on heart failure (HF) care models for resource-limited settings.
Since 2018, Dr. Mwazo has served as Head of Cardiology at Coast General Teaching & Referral Hospital in Mombasa, where he pioneered Kenya’s first public cardiac catheterization lab (2021) and established multidisciplinary HF clinics integrating telehealth and point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), reducing HF readmissions by 30%. He founded the Kenya Heart Failure Registry (2024) to drive national policy reforms and leads Bi-Cross Heart Solutions, a network of subsidized HF clinics across four counties.
Dr. Mwazo holds board certifications in Cardiology and Advanced Heart Failure Management (PCHF, WHF Academy). His research on HF phenotypes in Africa appears in peer-reviewed journals including the Cardiovascular Journal of Africa and ESC Congress. He actively contributes to global studies, such as WHF’s investigation of COVID-19 impacts on HF outcomes in Africa.
